Bedfordshire Ladies County Golf Association

The annual fun day for Junior girls in the County was held at Bedfordshire Golf Club on Sunday 4th July on the par 3 course. It was a really windy day but the 16 girls taking part had great fun. They started with a chipping competition on the driving range with 6 balls each and the winner was Chenna Tigwell from South Beds with Emma Brown from John O'Gaunt a close second.

The girls then took on the par 3 course - each group of 2 accompanied by either a committee member or a very kind member of the Bedfordshire Ladies section. Playing over the water on 7th hole did not count towards the competition but if the girls wanted to give it a try there was a prize for nearest the pin. Of course they all did have a go but the closest was Olivia Darling from Milbrook - 8 foot from the pin!

There were some great scores on the day but the star of the show was Freya Daniels from Dunstable Downs with a fantastic 34 over the 8 holes - she started with 4 pars - a great achievement for anyone - young or old! - Natasha Yesinkas from Tilsworth was hot on her tail, however, with 35.

Spot prizes were awarded to

Natalia Brennan from Beds & County for the best drive - the youngest competitor at age 6 and playing on her own in a competition for the first time.

Georgia Staroscik, Bedfordshire for the best chip

Sarah Cakebread Bedfordshire for a par on the 3rd hole,

Eve Jappy Bedfordshire for reaching the 9th hole in 4 and to

Annabel Pitts from Beadlow for the best putt.

The afternoon was rounded off with a super tea of sandwiches and chips with loads of ketchup - there were lots of tired but happy girls when their parents came to collect them   but all agreed it had been a great Fun Day!
