The final junior competition of the year saw 16 youngsters team up with their Lady partners to take part in the Sue Paterson Salver over at Beadlow Manor on Sunday 4th October. After the rain and wind of last year at Aylesbury Vale the weather was lovely and the teams were sent on their way by County President Audrey Shuter and Ladies Captain from Beadlow,Diane Denyer, in lovely sunshine. Each team had one participant from the silver division and one from the bronze division in a foursomes stableford format. Everyone played very well and the scores were extremely tight with 34 points being a very popular number on the day! Our winners however did one better with 35 points - Claire Hillier and Julia Cottenden from John O'Gaunt. The next 3 pairs all had 34 points but Clare Wilkie and Vickey Astley from Aspley Guise took the runners up slot. In third we had Amber Hunt from Caddington partnered by one of last year's winners - Kathy Harris - from Beadlow and Vanessa Jay and Avril Simpson from Leighton Buzzard came in 4th. After an extremely popular tea of ham, egg and chips Vanessa presented Audrey Shuter and Gill Westgate with flowers and chocolates as a thank you for all their help and support during the year and Amber Hunt was presented with her county colours. |
