INAUGURAL PYTHONS V SHARKS MATCH
held at AYLESBURY VALE on 30.10.09

Half term week was mild and sunny and we were treated to a beautiful day on Friday 30th October for the inaugural junior girls team match. The event was organized by Vanessa and Fiona, and Aylesbury Vale Golf Club very kindly provided courtesy. The teams assembled and Vanessa set about painting pythons or sharks onto the cheeks of the unsuspecting girls, who were a little surprised at first, especially when a photographer from the Leighton Buzzard Observer came to take a group photograph! The girls who played were; Vanessa Jay, Fiona Cooper, Elena Tizzard, Bethany Healey, Sophie Hillier, Claire Hillier, Clare Wilkie, Lucy Mills, Sophie Mills, Louise Eddy, Nathalie Rendle and Victoria Walley. Gill Westgate and Sue Paterson were included with the juniors and also had a great day as part of the teams. Lucy and Sophie Mills have just joined the County juniors and were made to feel very welcome on their first outing with us. The girls played 9 holes of foursomes and 9 holes of fourballs. The teams were jumbled up halfway round and fortified by one of Fiona's excellent home-made cookies. The matches were completed in great spirit and just before dark! The Pythons narrowly beat the Sharks, helped along by Vanessa getting 4 birdies in the back 9 holes....wow!!!! We had great support from parents, thank you to them all for bringing the girls and some even went out to play too!. Aylesbury Vale served up delicious ham eggs and chips to hungry teams after the match. The event ended in style as the new CooJay Cup was presented to the winning team and all participants were awarded a Srixon golf ball each with their team name hand-printed on it. |
