Lizi Wins in Kansas
In a playing programme that has been significantly affected by seasonally unusual weather conditions, Leighton Buzzard's Lizi Sweetnam has emerged to win in her latest tournament in Kansas. She led from the start with an opening round of 76 at the Central Christian College Tournament at Turkey Creek GC in McPherson, Kansas. A 2nd round of 84 in windy conditions was good enough to maintain that lead. Lizi's team, Seminole State College, also emerged as winners too and the Men's team completed a clean sweep of both competitions.
Up to then the weather had been the winner this semester as she has finished 13th, when heavy rain in Texas curtailed the opening event. An ice storm in Oklahoma and snow in Kansas cancelled two others, whilst the only completed outing suffered from extremely high winds from a nearby tornado in Oklahoma and a 12th place out of a field of 65 entrants.
This is great preparation for Lizi's next event, the NJCAA Regional Championship, which is a qualifier for the National Championships that she played in last year at the LPGA International course, Daytona Beach, Florida.
Well done Lizi, and Good Luck!
